St. David sponsors special events and services throughout the year to celebrate and serve.
Fall Festival is sponsored by the Learning Committee after worship in late October and features fun activities and hot dogs, corn dogs and hamburgers along with “trunk-or-treating” for the children.
Mother/Daughter/Friend Banquet is sponsored by WELCA for all ladies and girls in the congregation and their guests and is held every year.
Shrove Tuesday is the traditional pancake supper held the day before Ash Wednesday. In addition to the Mardi Gras theme and parade, palm leaves from the prior year’s Palm Sunday are burned to make the ashes used in the disposition of ashes at the Ash Wednesday service.
Lowman Home Day is sponsored by the Young at Heart and the Social Ministry Committee at the regular meeting of the Young at Heart in August. Residents from the Lowman Home are the honored guests and enjoy a delicious meal as well as special entertainment.
Soup and Sandwich Supper is held on Wednesday nights during Lent prior to Bible study at 6:30 p.m. and Lenten service at 7:30 p.m. Various committees are responsible for providing the meal.
Homecoming Sunday is held on the second Sunday in November each year. Former members of St. David and friends of the congregation are invited to attend worship and the covered dish lunch following worship.
Graduate Recognition Sunday is held in May or early June to recognize high school and college graduates. The Campus Ministry Committee hosts a breakfast during the Sunday School hour to honor the graduates and their parents. Quilts from the congregation, made by the parents with assistance from Ann Alexander and Pam Fox, are presented during the worship service. The quilt symbolizes being “wrapped in God’s love and the love of family and friends.” St. David WELCA provides gifts for the college graduates.
Campus Ministry Sunday is held in August to offer prayers for both students and teachers as they begin a new school year. A “Blessing of the Backpacks” for students and teachers is held during the Children’s Sermon. At the end of the worship, there is a service of Farewell and Godspeed for college students.
