St. David has a VERY active youth group.
Youth programs combining learning, fellowship and service activities are offered for middle and high school youth, 7th - 12th grade. Our Lutheran Church Youth (LCY) meet late afternoon or in the evening on most Sundays except when there are special events.
LCY depends greatly on parental and other adult participation to chaperone, assist in planning and implementing the youth activities, and to provide transportation. A SLED Criminal Records Check is required for any adult who works with youth under 18 years of age and two adults must always be present according to our church’s Safe Haven Policy.
The youth plan their own activities with parental support under the leadership of our Youth Director. Fun events include picnics at the Lown Pond, Christian music concerts, trips to Camp Kinard or the Coastal Retreat Center, and a ski trip to the NC mountains.
Our LCY also participates in Synod-sponsored youth events and mission activities, and church member service projects. Many attend the annual SC Youth Convention and the National Youth Convention held every three years which is to be held next in Houston TX this June (2018). A youth representative serves on Church Council and they also help lead services with special music, children’s sermons, and serve as acolytes, lectors and ushers on months with five Sundays.
