Sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion

Baptism

Baptisms are some of the greatest things that the church as a whole gets to do! As Lutherans, we believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and through this, we get to see very clearly the love of God being given to a person. Typically we baptize infants, which is a sign that God's love and acceptance is not dependent on anything but God; it's not something we do or choose, it's something God does and chooses for us! At baptism, we hear God making the promise of forgiveness to the child, we hear the parents and sponsors promise to love and raise this child of God faithfully, and we as a congregation promise to love and pray for them.

Holy Communion

At Communion, God gives the gift of life and salvation, holy gifts delivered in simple bread and wine. We believe that the decision about the age for a child to begin receiving communion is best made by each family. To help make that decision, you are welcome to talk to a pastor. Specific Communion teaching is offered at varying intervals. If you have questions about Communion instruction for yourself or your child, please email Pastor Madison.

God's love for us

Both of these Sacraments show us the love of God in ways we can see, touch, taste, smell, and hear. These are signs that God loves us no matter what, and will always love us no matter what!

If you'd like to talk to a pastor about either of these, please call the church office.
