MISSION: GUATEMALA

St. David is supporting Casa Milagro, an outreach ministry of the Augustinian Lutheran Church of Guatemala (ILAG). Of the 18 congregations that make up ILAG, 15 of them are in indigenous Maya villages. These congregations are given the opportunity to nominate young women from their membership to become students at this residential school.

The VISION of the school is to be a model program that inspired by the Gospel, transforms the lives of women and communities, building a more just, equitable, and inclusive church and society.

This is a five year program for students ages 13-18. In addition to the regular academic program, faith development is an important part of the experience. Plus they learn life skills such as budgeting, health, sewing, baking, masonry, gardening, weaving and other arts and crafts.

The school started in 2019 with three students and has grown each year. Now in 2025, they are at capacity with 18 students.

our work

In July 2025, Pastor Greg and Linda Turner went on a mission trip to Guatemala to continue building the relationship begun by Pastor Julia Shreve with ILAG. Currently, the MILAGRO Women's Education Center houses 18 students in 3 bedrooms. ILAG would like to accommodate more young women. This is a GREAT opportunity for St. David to help this ministry grow by providing funds to build a third story bedroom. A goal has been set of $10,500. There are ongoing opportunities for you to join this ministry endeavor.
